Classics, like any other healthy academic discipline, undergoes changes of structure and perspective over the generations. Our aim this year has been to frame a newly flexible programme answering to the needs and interests of the modern student while offering specialist strands of study that draw on the best elements of the tradition.
Jacopo Bisagni
was successfully appointedCeltic and Latin linguistics
Dr Jacopo Bisagni was appointed Lecturer in Classics at NUI Galway, with effect from 1st August 2008, and his PhD thesis was successfully examined on September 3rd. Jacopo is a graduate of the University of Pisa and a specialist in classical philology and Indo-European linguistics. He has particular interests in Celtic and Latin linguistics.
Jo Day will be
joining us this semesterResearch and Teaching Fellow
Dr Jo Day will be joining us this semester as Research and Teaching Fellow in Classical Archaeology. Jo Day studied at TCD and the University of Sheffield. Her PhD, an exploration of the social roles of plants in the Bronze Age Aegean, was supported by an IRCHSS postgraduate award.
