Imbas: The Journal of the National University of Ireland, Galway Postgraduate Medieval Studies Conference.
A selection of papers will be published in our newly established peer-reviewed journal, The Imbas Journal. This journal will be made available via our website and open-access journal databases. Panels were recorded and are available as podcasts here. By offering these two publication options, the committee aims to continue to contribute to research on the Middle Ages and to further the academic development of the delegates.
Preliminary Publishing Guidelines
- Papers are being selected through a competitive peer-reviewed selection. An initial selection will be made by the conference committee. Successful papers will then be assessed by an external committee consisting of five lecturers of various disciplines from various Irish universities.
- The members of the external editing committee for 2009 are: Dr. Ken Rooney (Dpt. of English, University College Cork), Dr. Catherine Swift (Irish Studies, Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick), Dr Christina Haywood (Dpt. Head, School of Classics, University College Dublin), and Dr Muireann Ni Bhrolchain (Dpt. of Medieval Irish and Celtic Studies, National University of Ireland, Maynooth) .
- Selected papers will be subject to two rounds of editing before being made available on the Imbas website as well as open-access journal databases
- The number of published papers will depend upon submissions.
- Authors will retain copyrights over the published material and will be free to publish the material elsewhere
- A paper publication of these chosen articles will be made obtainable through a self-publication website (http://www.lulu.com/uk), through which the journal will be available for order on demand
